With their fourth successive win after losing their opening two games, Switzerland beat Canada by 8-6 in Sunday morning's seventh session of men's round-robin play at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.

This win puts the Swiss into joint second place alongside Canada in the current standings and behind leaders Sweden, who sat out the session.

Other winners in this session were Japan, who beat United States by 8-2, and Norway, who had a 10-8 win over Denmark. Great Britain, Italy and Korea also sat out this session.

Switzerland opened their game against Canada with a score of four points in the first end when their fourth player Benoit Schwarz drew his last stone into the house after Canada's skip Kevin Koe missed with his last stone.

Canada were chasing the game after this and when Switzerland threw away their last stone in the seventh end because they had no shot, they stole one point and closed the gap to just one point, at 7-6. In the ninth end, Schwarz played a tap round three stones that rolled his stone back in the direction it came from, to score one point for an 8-6 Swiss lead. Canada conceded in the tenth end.

Japan carved out a 4-0 lead in the first three ends of their game against United States. The Americans fought to get back into the game, but, when Japan had a two-point steal in the seventh end for an 8-2 lead, United States conceded the game.

Norway faced Denmark in the third game of this session and took control of the game with scores of four points in each of the fourth and sixth ends, giving them a 9-3 lead.

In the seventh end, Denmark scored two points when their skip Rasmus Stjerne tapped back one of his own stones. The Danes followed that up with a steal of two points in the eighth end to narrow Norway's lead to 9-7. Eventually, in the tenth end, Norway skip Thomas Ulsrud hit out one of two Danish stones sitting in the house to win by 10-8.

The results of this session mean that Sweden, unbeaten on five wins so far, have an advantage over the field at the top-of-the-table, having one game in hand over Canada and Switzerland, who share second place on four wins. Japan are in a clear fourth place on three wins, while Denmark and Korea, on one win each, are tied at the bottom.
