Wins for Canada and Sweden in Friday evening's fifth session of round-robin play at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, kept them both undefeated in joint top spot on the men's rankings.

Canada beat Korea by 7-6 while Sweden came from behind for an 8-6 win over Great Britain.

The other winners in this session were Switzerland, by 6-5 over Japan; and United States, who beat Denmark by 9-5. Italy and Norway sat out this session.

Canada took control of their game against Korea with a score of three points in the third end and a steal of one point in the eighth end consolidated their position, with a 7-3 lead.

Korea fought back after this but, in the tenth end, Canada skip Kevin Koe hit out one of two Korean stones in the house for a 7-6 win.

After Sweden had scored one point in the opening end, Great Britain scored two points in the second and then had a single point steal in the third end to take an early 3-1 lead. Britain went into the break up by 5-3, but, in the sixth end, Sweden's skip Niklas Edin played a hit and stay for three points retake the lead, at 6-5. After this, a draw for two points by Edin in the ninth end was enough for an 8-6 Swedish win.

Switzerland's game against Japan went down to the last stone when their fourth player Benoit Schwarz drew just inside a Japanese stone already sitting in the house to score one point and win by 6-5.

In their game against Denmark, United States started strongly, scoring two points in the first end, stealing two points in the second end, then stealing another two points in the fourth end for a 6-0 lead.

Denmark chased after this and their skip Rasmus Stjerne drew his final stone of the eighth end into the house to score two points, to reduce the Americans' lead to 8-5. However when United States skip John Shuster drew his last stone of the ninth end into the house to score one point and take a 9-5 lead, Denmark conceded.

These results leave Canada and Sweden tied on four wins and no losses, with four teams - Great Britain, Italy, Switzerland and United States tied for third place, each on two wins and two losses. At the other end of the table, Korea are still looking for their first win.

The men's competition resumes tomorrow (Saturday 17 February) afternoon at 14:05 Korea Standard Time (KST) with the sixth round-robin session.
