Norway grabbed the fourth and final place in the Olympic mixed doubles semi-finals with a 9-7 win over China in Sunday evening's tie-breaker at the Gangneung Curling Centre.

They now face table-toppers Canada in one semi-final, knowing they are the only team to have handed the Canadians a defeat in the round-robin, while Switzerland and the Olympic Athlete from Russia team face each other in the second semi-final.

China opened with last stone advantage in the first end and scored two points for an early lead through a tap-up by Rui Wang. However, Norway responded straightaway with Kristin Skaslien drawing the final stone of the second end into the house to score three points and take the lead, 3-2.

China fought back and went ahead again, at 5-4, with a score of two points in the fifth end. But the turning point of the game came in the sixth end when China's Rui Wang had a complete miss on an attempted take-out, leaving Norway's Kristin Skaslien with an open draw for four points and an 8-5 lead.

Despite this, China battled on and scored two points in the seventh end to reduce Norway's lead to 8-7, but when Wang's last effort of the eighth end could not get inside a Norwegian stone already in the house, Skaslien and her partner Magnus Nedregotten could celebrate a 9-7 victory without having to deliver their last stone.

Monday's semi-final sessions will now see Canada face Norway at 09:05 while Switzerland face the Olympic Athlete from Russia team at 20:05, Korean Standard Time (KST).

The winners will go onto contest gold and silver medals on Tuesday and before that, the losers will play for bronze medals
