Who plays who? Mixed doubles schedule released for PyeongChang 2018

The PyeongChang 2018 Organising Committee Olympic Winter Games has unveiled the mixed doubles schedule for the upcoming Games in February 2018.

Mixed doubles curling, a new medal discipline for the Olympic Winter Games, will run from Thursday 8 February to Tuesday 13 February and will come before the women’s and men’s teams’ tournaments, which have been part of the Games since 1998.

    A total of eight Member Associations will compete for medals in mixed doubles – Canada, China, Finland, hosts Korea, Norway, Russia, current world champion nation Switzerland and United States.

    The tournament format will be a round-robin – two draws per day – followed by a session of tie-breakers if required, then semi-finals and finals. The round-robin and tie-breakers will be played from 8 to 11 February. The semi-finals will be at 09:05 and then 20:05 on Monday 12 February. The bronze medal game will be at 09:05 on Tuesday 13 February and the tournament will conclude with the gold medal game that Tuesday, at 20:05.

    At the end of the round-robin the teams will be ranked one to eight, with the first ranked team playing the fourth ranked team (1v4) and the second ranked team playing the third ranked team in the semi-finals (2v3).

    In the first session of round-robin games the host nation, Korea, will play Finland, while the current world champion nation, Switzerland will go head-to-head with China. In that same session, at 09:05 on Thursday 8 February, United States will play Russia and Canada face Norway.
